Samyang Hot Chicken Ramen Instant Noodle Review

I'd been looking forward for months to get my hand to this popular Samyang Hot Ramen instant noodle. I saw in one of the Instagram accounts that you can basically pre-order this instant noodle and have it delivered to you in several weeks. The price quoted was Rp 25,000 (SGD 2.50) per package. I'd say it is super pricey. It is equally the same price as the noodle that is sold in the food court in Jakarta.

After long search for the noodle in Hongkong's supermarkets, Singapore's Cold Storage and many supermarkets in Jakarta, I finally found it in an unexpected place. There is this famous and popular reflexology place in Pluit, called Nano. It has a mini market inside and last night, out of the blue it was available on one of their shelves. Apparently they just stock up this brand recently. So, I quickly grabbed 5. It cost me Rp 12,000 (SGD 1.20) per package. And then off to another fruit store in Pluit area and I found the same instant noodle brand for Rp 500 pricier. Obviously it is getting more popular and some stores order big bulks to meet the demand.

So I basically bought 8 packages last night and here is what it looks like.

The package itself was all written in Korean and the brand "Samyang" was on the top left corner. Luckily, behind there is small translation in Bahasa Indonesia on the type of the noodle and the cooking instruction.

 

I went home and without further ado, I opened the package and inside it has the dry noodle, the hot sauce and the dry vegetables. It looks standard so far, nothing special.

As per cooking instruction, I am supposed to boil the noodle for 4 minutes. I added its dry vegetables, real vegetables of my own and an egg.

4 minutes was up, I got the colander, poured the noodle onto it and drained it.

I put the hot sauce first into the bowl and then next, the noodle. Then, I stirred it all up.

The mixture turned into red color and to my own liking, I added fried shallots on top to get the crunchy effect.

Now, judgement time. I slurped the noodle and it tasted sweet and tasty. But once, you finished chewing and swallowing it, you would definitely feel the super spiciness of this instant noodle. It is really hot as the title and you would feel that your mouth is burning slowly. Funnily enough, you will get addicted and keep wanting more, or may be it's just me. I would give a warning to those who are still freshman in chilies, be prepared and get iced water ready. But for those seniors, let's join me in the party.
