Pain Relief Medicated Oil from Singapore Headway Medicine co. Review

My last trip to Hong Kong, my mom asked me to buy a good medicated oil. She didn't specify any brand for me. She just told me to ask the sales person. I happened to stay at Tsim Sha Shui area and I went to one of the traditional Chinese medicine shops, just right next to 7-eleven convenience store at Middle Road. I can't recall the store's name as it was in Chinese. The sales man asked me what the medicated oil for, I told him for old people and muscle pains. He showed me 3 brands from the highest price to the lowest price. I chose the 2nd best. At first he mentioned the price of HKD 90 per bottle, then after negotiation and increased the number of bottles to buy, he gave HKD 86 per bottle. Here is what the packaging looks like.

Then the sales man opened up the plastic wrapping for me to see how the bottle looked like. The picture below didn't depict the many insects inside the bottle, but for sure, one of them was centipede. Since I couldn't read Chinese characters, I thought this must be very potent.

So, I finally agreed to buy 2 bottles. The brand on the bottle was Singapore Headway Medicine Co, but Hong Kong address. I asked if this was from Singapore, he told me that I wouldn't be able to find this in Singapore.

Then the next day, I met my sister in Sasa at Queen's Road, Central and on the same row, it has a traditional Chinese medicine store. We went in and checked the price and to our surprise, the man told us that it was only HKD 68. I even asked him again if I needed to buy a dozen for that price. He told me that was the price for one bottle. It was HKD 18 difference from the store I bought the other day. Well, since it was such a good deal and to average out the pricing of those oils, just like my finance professor taught me on stocks, I bought another 2 bottles from the store.

My mom now has been using the oil for quite sometimes and she is a big believer of this oil. Since she uses it a lot, one bottle is for 3 - 4 weeks use only. She even now promotes the oil to her relatives and friends. She testified that her wrist used to hurt so much for lifting up heavy things and the oil helped her a lot. She diligently rubbed her wrist with the oil for few days and the pain went away. Now, she uses it often on her aching legs, knees and whichever parts of her body that are in pain.

I thank the first store to introduce the good oil to me, but dislike on his pricing. If you intend to buy this medicated oil, I'd encourage to buy it in Central Hong Kong as it is less touristy and you might get yourself a fair price. The oil is also available in Sasa but you will be paying HKD 89. This medicated oil is also good as a gift to bring back home as they'd wrap it in a nice gift paper.
