Few weeks ago, I was browsing
Groupon and saw this 3 Hello Kitty Around the World tickets on discount. It was at
Kota Kasablanca, a new mall (well for me it is). My baby daughter is a fan of Hello Kitty so I decided to get it and bring my nieces along since it's the end of semester holiday.
Honestly, I was expecting more than what was. I thought that it's gonna be an event at one big place where you get to take pictures with lots and lots of Hello Kitties and play games like the ones in carnival. You know, at a big space where it's on the ground floor of the mall and in the middle where everyone can see you from the top floors? I was expecting that but it was actually little booths scattered on the ground floor of Kota Kasablanca and the big open space is used to showcase Hyundai cars.
Hello Kitty Around the World? More like "Hello Kitty Around Kota Kasablanca Ground Floor". We alight from the car on the Food Society lobby and straight away you'll see this soccer booth.
Honestly, at first, we did not know it was part of the event. How can it be? It's soccer theme! Moreover, no Hello Kitty dolls around. Maybe they will add on later? I went there on the second day of the start of event, but still, they should have Hello Kitties on it. Anyway, we decided to have lunch before we played and ate Sushi Tei on the 3rd floor (not sure).
Went down to the ground floor again and we had to search around the ground floor to exchange our Groupon voucher. Seriously, no sign? Well, of course we did not just wander around aimlessly, we asked the people at the Hello Kitty booths that we encountered and they directed us to the Japan booth which we still got lost for a while.
Apparently it was behind the Japan booth with this gate near the Hyundai showcase.

Of course, they will sell Hello Kitty Sanrio stuff there and if you read my
Evamat or Dwinguler floor mat, where i asked where to get Hello Kitty floor mat? They sell it here. So ok, I went to the counter to exchange my voucher with three tickets and they asked me to sign up for a membership of this club.... sorry, can't remember the name of the company and I lost the card somewhere. Anyway they asked you to fill in your name, email and handphone number so that they can notify you when they have events like this again.

The tickets |
With these tickets you can play games at their booths. Collect stamps and get free magnets, more than 10 stamps, you can get 2 magnets for each ticket.

We then moved on to Rio De Janeiro booth. If you notice, wrong spelling on the tickets. Rio de Janeiro booth is the one that we did not know is part of the Hello Kitty Event. It was located at the Food Society amongst the restaurant and behind it is Batik exhibition.

We had technical difficulties on this booth and had to wait for about 10 minutes for the guard booth to find the manager and restart the program. Luckily, my daughter just sat patiently eating her crackers watching people around her.
Lastly, we moved on to the Tokyo booth.

You have to choose the right food to be placed on the bento just like the picture on the right. |

The prizes |
You choose the magnets randomly in a covered box. One of my niece got more than 10 stamps and so she can take 2 magnets. In total we have 4 magnets. We spent about 30-45 minutes on all booths and that was on a Friday afternoon with little or no queues. I believe on weekends it will be very crowded and I see no point queueing for these games.
To summarise, should you go? Well yes if you are like me who had never been to Kota Kasablanca before and your girls love Hello Kitty. The games on booths are mostly unisex so I guess boys will play too. My advice if you are going, 1. one of the parents can accompany the kids while the other go shopping since its Jakarta Great Sale so most stores are on sale and 2. go on weekdays if you have the time, to avoid queues. There are live shows too for the event which I don't know where and did not go as it starts at 3 pm and my nieces prefer to go back home instead. Overall, they had fun, so you decide.
Kota Kasablanca is at Jl. Kasablanca Raya Kav. 88, Jakarta Selatan 12870.
Ticket price: Rp 60.000 for 1 adult and 1 child (below 12 years old)
