I went to Alam Sutra, Tangerang today. From Jakarta toll to Tangerang, you took an exit at Alam Sutra and then soon you will see rows of shophouses on your right and left. This restaurant was on one of those shophouses on your left. It occupied 2 shophouses and it looked pretty new. I ate in this restaurant before few years back in their Jakarta outlet, but since they never have any outlets in the mall, I seldom frequented it.
The restaurant was almost full when I got there. I ordered 4 dishes and it took 15 minutes for the food to come. The food I tried first was shrimps and tofu cooked with preserved fermented yellow soybeans. I remembered that it was one of their popular dishes. But I didn't like it caused it tasted too sweet.
The next food I tried was the steamed fish with Hong Kong soy sauce. The fish used was nile tilapia. Commonly fish that can be easily found in any traditional markets in Indonesia. The fish was cooked at perfect timing. It was soft and the sauce was pretty good, which was at nice saltness level.
The next two dishes that came were very good and highly recommended. The sliced beef was cooked with capsicum, onions, garlic, tomatoes and seasoned with worcestershire sauce and black pepper. The other one was chicken with plum sauce. The chicken was breaded and very crunchy. It tasted almost like eating sweet bread. Very well cooked.
The damage? It was about USD 40.
Overall, it was a nice family restaurant and the food served were more like home cooked food. If you happen to be in this area, you may want to stop by and try it out for yourself.
