The fctory Bistro & Bar at St. Moritz Jakarta

I ate at The Fctory last week. It was a pretty new restaurant in Puri area. It was located at the same area as the new Electronic City or neighbour to the Royal Suite Tower. It was actually part of St. Moritz, but since the Debenham's wing is not ready yet, so the only access for temporary is through the Electronic City.

The interior was pretty bare, industrial look and the space was pretty small. The chairs are not that comfy either. I guess the name of the restaurant would say it all loud, I was in the factory, what would I expect? But the nice touch was the hand soap was L'occitane. It was almost finished though, not sure whether they'd still use the same brand after that. The inconvenience part was that the toilet was not available inside the restaurant. You need to walk out and go inside the St. Moritz to use the toilet. It will be a hassle if they open beyond the mall's operational hour since you definitely need to hold your business till you find the nearest toilet somewhere else.

The menu was pretty simple too, nothing is too fancy. It was mainly western food; pasta, steak and burger.

I ordered te Iced Lychee tea. It was okay.

All hot teas were by TWG. Below was chamomile tea.

I ordered 2 appetizers; Battered Calamari (below) and fried chicken wings. But the latter came way so much later. I love the calamari and its batter. This is recommended.

The main course I ordered Ms. Piggy, it was divided into two portions as my request, since I was sitting on a long table. It was basically a pork belly. The skin was crunchy and the meat was tender. It was really good. The downside was it had too much fat on the pork.

Next was the Tomahawk. As you can see, the way it was served, was with potatoes and carrots, same way as they served Mr. Piggy above. Unfortunately, the meat was not tender, although it was medium done.

I like the Aglio Olio below. It was seasoned well, although a tad too oily but loved the crunchiness of the bacon.

The dry aged burger below was served with a sunny side up egg, bacon, salad and french fries. I liked the burger and I even ordered one more portion. However, if they could just improve on the fries. It was not crispy enough and tasted plain.

The chicken wing that came late was a disappointment. It was too sweet and not tasty enough.

The Ox tongue don was also my least favourite meal at that night. The rice was too soft and the ox tongue tasted weird.

Then, the last meal that came out was the free breads. Apparently, they forgot to serve it to us earlier. Well, at least they still served it. The breads came out warm and soft. It was pretty good, unfortunately the timing wasn't since everyone on the table was already full.

The damage:

Overall, the food was okay. Some were good and some were not. You just have to know what to order when you come here. Since the place is not that big, you better make a reservation beforehand.
