Sanur Mangga Dua at Pantai Indah Kapuk

There was a new restaurant just recently opened in never ending PIK shophouses. This restaurant attracted my parents since it's SANUR. My dad told me that the Sanur they used to eat in Juanda was quite good. So, today my dad brought me there to fulfil his curiosity.

So, after the voting, we all went there and the restaurant was almost full but we still managed to get a table for 5. That day was pretty busy for them as there were several functions that were celebrated at their second and third level. I was quite impressed with how people could just quickly flock in this newly restaurant. Does the name really sell that well? Let's see.

The interior was quite nice and decorated with lots of wood finishing.

The menu book was quite thick and intensive, with lots of varieties to choose from.

We quickly ordered since it was noon and we were quite hungry. However, the food took forever to come. We kept asking the waiters for the food but it still didn't come till about half an hour later. We heard that the table behind us was pretty upset and asked for the bill before all their orders arrived. I wondered to the cause of this chaos, was the chefs not prepared to receive many orders? Would this event even caused them their return business?

At last the first meal that came first was the mapo tofu and followed 2 minutes later with plain rice and prawns in bamboo. Luckily, the prawns won us over because it tasted so good. The prawns were fresh and the soup inside the bamboo was very sweet.

Once we gulped over those two dishes, we still needed to call the waiter for our other orders. It seems that our eating was stalled for quite a bit. Again, we needed to wait for another 5 - 10 minutes to get our  lemon fried chicken and stir fried glass noodles with steamed crabs.

The lemon fried chicken was quite tasty. However, the stir fried glass noodle for me was plain and the crab portion was pretty small and again the seafood fried rice was disappointing.

The damage:

In conclusion, the rave that I heard about Sanur from my dad was over-rated. My dad was not pleased too with the food. They gave us a 10% discount from the total bill and not sure why. We might give it another chance to this restaurant and assuming that they might be overwhelmed with the crowd.

  1. I just visited the restaurant with my family, and it was a busy night for the restaurant too. Maybe because they have more experience now, service was good and all the dishes ordered came out without having to wait too long. The ayam goreng lemon, udang tim bambu were indeed yummy. The soun tim kepiting I had last night was pretty good too actually. :) But thanks to your review, we managed to finally find a great Chinese restaurant in PIK!

  2. I went there on a weekday for lunch and the service was very good, food came out relatively fast and it was delicious. The price was reasonably cheap for such delicious food. I ate their sapi saos xo, ayam goreng lemon and bakso ikan. Glad to have a restaurant in PIK that serves authentic chinese food. Will definitely come back to eat more!

  3. For your information, Sanur Mangga Dua PIK is not the same as Sanur in Juanda. Sanur in Juanda does not have any other branch.
